Who are The Lensgrinders?

We’re a group of friends residing in Melbourne, Australia in our 20s. Here’s some more about us, what we’ll mostly be writing on the site, what our niches are and our top 5 films so you can get a feel of our tastes (names are clickable and will take you through to that author’s posts):

David Valkenet
20 year old film student. I guess my niche will be shlocky horror and I’ll certainly be talking about a lot of non-new releases. I work at Village Cinemas Gold Class in Crown Casino so might be posting the occasional pre-lease review.
You can find me on Letterboxd or my music website dedicated to abrasive and bad music Ear Vomit.
5. The Holy Mountain [Jodorowsky]
4. Texas Chainsaw Massacre [Hooper]
3. Aguirre: The Wrath of God [Herzog]
2. Touch of Evil [Welles]
1.  Playtime [Tati]

Michael Atoms
Both a film student and a struggling writer. How unoriginal of me. I am 21, though, which is different. My niche is bad Zapp Brannigan impressions.
5. Touch of Evil [Welles]
4. M [Lang]
3. Brazil [Gilliam]
2. Annie Hall [Allen]
1. Lawrence of Arabia [Lean]

Maxine Firbas
History and English student. Professional procrastinator. Avid reader and book enthusiast. Views films that reside in the main-est of streams.
5. The Dark Knight [Nolan]
4. Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back [Kershner]
3. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King [Jackson]
2. Inception [Nolan]
1. How to Steal a Million [Wyler]

Scott Tuccori
I’m a 20 year old judgemental film-snobbic prick that thinks bad movies are good (fun) and I love a nice soundtrack by Jerry Goldsmith, Ryuichi Sakamoto or Kazuyoshi Saito.
You can find me on Letterbox’d, Tumblr and Bandcamp.
5. Red Sun [Young]
4. Once Upon a Time in America [Leone]
3. Fish Story [Nakamura]
2. Wise Blood [Huston]
1. Gremlins [Dante]

David McGorlick
David McGorlick is a film student, sound designer and apparently an amateur writer. He has an alarming passion for art, music and various other abstract concepts.
5. Let the Right One In [Alfredson]
4. Adaptation [Jonze]
3. Mulholland Drive [Lynch]
2. The Big Lebowski [Coen]
1. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind [Gondry]

David Carter
Struggling writer/Blu-Ray fanboy.
5. Watchmen [Snyder]
4. Almost Famous [Crowe]
3. Goodfellas [Scorcese]
2. Apocalypse Now [Coppola]
1. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly [Leone]

Robbie Smith
I’m a 20-something (specifically, 20) year old person who likes moviefilms. If I was on that show Australia’s Brainiest Kid, my topic of interest would be honour killings. And if they didn’t let me have that, it would be the Coen Brothers, Monty Python or DIY Documentaries. And if they didn’t let me have any of them, I’d scream, walk out, and wonder why I applied for a show that I was at least 7 years too old for and that also doesn’t exist anymore.
5. Targets [Bogdanovich]
4. Kill Bill Vol. 2 [Tarantino]
3. Bastardy [Courtin-Wilson]
2. The Holy Mountain [Jodorowsky]
1. The Big Lebowski [Coen]
