The Master Trailer

Paul Thomas Anderson’s new movie is something I’m sure we’re all excited for, and while the internet seemed to be salivating over Joaquin Phoenix and Philip Seymore Hoffman, I’m excited to see Laura Dern’s freaky face on a super large screen. I love the video look of much of the trailer. I alway associated P.T. Anderson with lush cinematography and full filmy colours, and although there are some of the classic shots we’ve come to expect, it’s very interesting to see a slight fish eye lens and a pretty grainy video look through much of the teaser. By the sounds of things, it looks like Jonny Greenwood is returning to do the score which can only be good.

It doesn’t give to much away, sets up expectations and seems to try and reflect the mood of the final product. It almost works as a short film in it’s own right. Trailer perfection.
